"Wolfkin: A Fairy's Tail" is HERE!

It's a Book!

It's been a long windy road to get here. There's been a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and profanity. There have been learning curves and delays. There has even been a renewed appreciation for the value of paid publication services in spite of prior complaints about the cost (because, frankly, figuring this hoo-ha out solo has been an unrelenting nightmare in comparison).

But, that is all in the past now. The breech-birth labor is over. I'm looking at my bouncing bundle of beautiful book and reminded of my buddy Lynn Main's encouragement that "It will all be worth it." I finished up the final steps of publishing yesterday like a father getting to cut the umbilical cord. I notified the production team and made the official announcement on Facebook and Twitter. I updated the webpage with purchase links and information. By the time I remembered to go get dinner I was in a state of exhausted catharsis. It was done. The book was officially available. We had done it.

I ordered my first case of books, which will be arriving sometime around the 8th of June. That gives me a week that, if I'm smart, I'll use to completely dink off and recover. Experience with Ash to Ashes tells me that I won't get much of a chance again to take a real break for a while once the physical copies start showing up.

Wolfkin: A Fairy's Tail

So now that Wolfkin: A Fairy's Tail is officially available in paperback and e-book, here's some things to know about this second volume in the Chronicles of Chalisaria:

1. This story takes place in the Sylvanwood Forest of Northwestern Mainland. As such, there are no dragons here (that we know of), but there are a plethora of new threats and allies to be found that are native to the enchanted forest (Witches, and Werewolves, and Faeries, Oh My!).

2. Ashton and friends are currently already in the middle of their tale when Wolfkin begins. This volume instead follows the adventures of Neko Goodbrush, a three-foot-tall mix between a halfling and a werewolf known by few allies as wolfkin. Neko's carefree plans get blown apart when his pixie friend Talia is sprite-napped by a dust-addicted troll. The legends of Neko's youth become vividly real as he embarks on a quest to rescue his captive friend and manages to stumble upon a heroic and mysterious legacy left behind by his own great-grandfather.

3. If you haven't read Ash to Ashes, you can read Wolfkin: A Fairy's Tail without too much risk of missing important information. While there are certainly references and connections to certain characters from the first book, the story and events of Wolfkin are primarily independent to this particular volume. That said, go ahead and read Ash to Ashes also. It's totally worth it.

4. It's still pronounced "chalice-aria," like the fancy cup and the classical vocal arrangement.

5. If you're not familiar with this series, No, that is not a typo in the title. Yes, it is a play on words.

Wolfkin: A Fairy's Tail is available HERE or through your country's Amazon.com affiliate (I've confirmed availability in UK, Canada, and Germany as of last night for sure). Expanded distribution will eventually allow for purchase through many of your favorite bookstores, though it may take up to a month for it to appear in their system for purchase. (Sorry folks, that's just the way it works!)
